About the Tours

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and following the Health Authorities guidelines, we ask you to pay attention to the following measures, in case you want to join our tours:

  1. Social distance of 2 meters (6 feet) from other travelers and the Guide;
  2. Follow the breathing etiquette;
  3. Face masks are mandatory in indoors public areas, transportations, stores, churches, supermarkets;
  4. If you feel sick, please cancel the tour and contact the local Heath Authorities by this phone number 800 24 24 20.
  5. To the ones that join the tour, we ask to download Uniti and bring your own headphones, in order to keep the social distance during the tour. When the tour begins, the guide will give you the Wi-Fi access and the password for the app so you can hear the commentary. 


Funchal is the Capital of the Archipelago of Madeira, the first place the Portuguese settled overseas in the 15th, in the Age of Discoveries.

Soon, Funchal became a very important harbor in the Atlantic, as many ships stopped over to get supplies.

It was in Madeira that the mass production of sugar started. Madeira supplied sugar to Europe in the 15th, 16th and part of the 17th Century.

The sugar trades brought a lot of wealth to the Island, which attracted many foreigners. Some just passing by, a lot of them settling here.

Christopher Colombus was in Madeira for the first time in 1478 due to a sugar trade and then lived on the Archipelago for about 2 years, as he married a local lady.

With the decline of the sugar trades in Madeira, the Wine industry took over. The fortified Madeira Wine in known worldwide and, according to Thomas Jefferson, it is the wine of every civilized man! It was the Wine George Washington chose to celebrate the Declaration of Independence!

Funchal is also the hometown of the Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo!

The duration is 2 to 2.30 hours (depends on the days, on the group's pace and time spent on each location).


The preferred days for the this tour are:

  • Mondays (9.30 am and 2.30 pm);
  • Thursdays (9.30 am and 2.30 pm)
  • Saturdays (9.30 am)


Funchal Old Town Free 

The duration is 1 to 1.30 hours (depends on the days, on the group's pace and time spent on each location).


The preferred day for the this tour is:

  • Friday - 6 pm.

If you have boked the tour but can't make it, please informe us, so we don't make the group wait unnecessarily.
